Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program has some great things coming up. We have cartooning improvs with Stephanie Piro on the 6th and the 13th. This is a sign-up in advance type program and runs from 6-7:30 PM. We have make and take crafts on the 10th, 17th, and 24th and these run from 1-4 PM. We have some 9 am programs at the school on the 15th, 22nd, and 29th. Those programs will include math games, dancing, and a storyteller. We will have our end program on the 28th and will be having a dance with Tom Pomeroy and snow cones at Henry Wilson. This program will go from 6-7:30 PM. Everyone is always invited and should be lots of fun. Our Reading Program ends on August 1st.

Incentive Programs

The Summer Reading Program is also in cooperation with some incentive programs from various organizations around this area. TD Banknorth is doing a 10 books for $10 dollars deal. After the child has read 10 books, bring in a list to TD Banknorth and they will deposit $10 into a new or existing Regular Savings Account. Barnes and Noble is having a program where you read 8 books and you get entered into to win an autographed copy of the final Percy Jackson adventure The Last Olympian. The Fisher Cats are also doing a program. If you read 5 books and mail in the form by July 22nd then you will receive two tickets for their Summer Reading Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. This event will take place on August 4, 2009. At the game the child will be honored for their accomplishment on the field.

Life at the library

The library has been made a victim of by Spring Cleaning. The Children’s Room has spent a great deal of time over the last few days cleaning, rearranging, and weeding. We have made some great changes with many more to come. Also we have been busy planning for this summer. This summer has lots of exciting things to come including a Teen Summer Program to along with the Summer Reading Program for the kids. We are once again working with the school and various other community figures. We are excited to see what will come from another crazy, hot, and humid summer!

Children's Room Staff

We also have an amazing staff here in the Children's Room. We have Joyce, Chrissy, and Karen as the the head of the children's room. We try to make the room a place where kids want to be. It isn't unusual for our tables to be covered in the latest craft or to have something hanging from the ceiling. If you have ANY questions we love to answer them.
